Where to Find a Little Spot of Solace

You know those days when you question whether you’re doing anything right? I get those. They usually include a call to my mom, mid-breakdown, while my husband looks on— terrified— contemplating whether flowers or wine or Modern Family reruns will make it better.

Sometimes, the wine works. But most of the time, I’m just overreacting.

I’ve adopted some small spots— my backyard, the park, a giant tree in the city— where I go to underreact. I get cozy. Think sweater, leggings, boots. I pack a blanket and a book. And I go.

This week, I brought my husband to snap pictures so I could share the experience. Here’s our photo diary, through his eyes. I hope it inspires you to adopt your very own breathing spots.

    Lovely post!

  • So happy you enjoyed it!

  • Love underreact. So necessary to have a spot to breath deeply and refocus. Thanks for continuing to share your beautiful words and thoughts!

    • Thanks so much, Laura! I’m so happy it resonated. Underreacting doesn’t get enough attention, but it’s good for the soul.
