What Would You Tell a High School Grad?

I’ll soon be making a trip to my hometown of Holland, MI. It’s a little place that sits right on the lake. It was once rated one of the happiest places to live by ABC News. Which means it’s the best town ever.

Hopefully, a bunch of high school students there will think I’m super cool, because I’m giving their commencement speech. The honor will land me in front of nearly 3,000 people. I’m going to follow the advice my mom once gave me in grade-school, and pretend they’re all cabbage heads.

For months, I’ve been thinking about my own high school graduation. I remember feeling like I knew everything. Truly, I thought my parents could have plopped me into the real world and I would have survived just fine. That’s until realized laundry was a lot harder than it looked.

I’m incredibly humbled to be speaking. I’d love to hear your thoughts— what do you wish you would have known when graduating high school? Let me know! Send me a quick email through the connect tab, or comment below. You can also reach out on social media.

In the meantime, I’ll be thinking about cabbage.
