Real Life Happens Behind Pretty Photos
Our house is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The tree is finally up, and our pup is on the nice list.
I spent a lot of time daydreaming about how the weekend would go. Christmas music. Festive PJ’s. Hot cocoa. Gold ornaments. Jett in a Holiday sweater. It was straight out of a Hallmark commercial.
Enter Saturday. Tree Decorating Day. Problem one: football is on. Which means, my husband is getting three ornaments up every 10 minutes, while obnoxiously peering at the television.
Problem two: Moving destroys breakables. I attempt to unpack last year’s ornaments, but find they’re either shattered or missing. Cue total breakdown [+ a shopping trip for more].
Problem three: Dogs hate Christmas sweaters. Jett continues to squirm, bark and hide from me. A bag of treats later, and Jett freaking loves that Christmas sweater.
It took us too long to decorate. Neither Jake nor Jett shared my Hallmark vision. And the marshmallows in our hot cocoa were hard because I can’t read expiration dates.
But we laughed (hard). I cried (hard). And we somehow managed to snap pretty photos. Sometimes, daydreams are really overrated. Real life’s way better. Go live it.
