Mind Ready Monday: Upgrade Your Life

It’s Monday. I hope you’re indulging in coffee or kale smoothies or protein shakes. I’m coming off a weekend road trip with friends, so I’m on a happiness high.

Today we’re talking margaritas, frozen yogurt and booty dances. Your life is about to get an upgrade.

Seriously, here are five ways to make your life better today. They work for me every time.

PLAN A TRIP. Get out your calendars and start planning a getaway. It doesn’t have to be lavish or far, but it should give you something to look forward to. Plus, time away always seems to make me more grateful for what I have at home.

TREAT YOURSELF. This is where the margaritas come in. On a Monday? Okay, maybe a mimosa is a safer choice. Better yet— go for frozen yogurt. Sadly, it won’t make your problems disappear. But make it a date and grab that yogurt with a friend. You’ll begin to unwind.

SHAKE THAT BOOTY. By that, I mean exercise. We’ve gotta work off those treats. Sometimes, doing it Beyonce-style is best. But if you’re not feeling it, hit the gym. I’m consistently my happiest when I’m my healthiest. Eat well and exercise often. You’ll have a better day [and life] because of it.

WATCH YOUTUBE. There’s nothing better than a funny YouTube video. Did you see this one, of a baby breaking it down to some Katy Perry music? Or this one, of a confident little girl who really knows how to love life? Trust me, you’ll feel better after watching these.

SAVE UP. This one’s especially for my fellow 20-somethings. I know saving sounds unsexy (and near-impossible if you’re paying off student loans). But saving early eases a lot of anxiety. Life is unpredictable and often unfair, and this is one way to protect yourself.
