Building My Team: Meet Katie
“Teamwork makes the dream work,” as the saying goes. Nothing great is ever achieved alone.
My greatest successes in life have all been born from the work of a stellar team. Knowing that, I’ve been striving to build a group of talented, creative, happy individuals to continue the growth of this site.
As fate would have it, the sweet Katie Grossbard showed up at my office last month, and convinced me she’d make the perfect addition to team Lauren’s Lyst. Specifically, Katie is serving as our Digital Content Director. You’ll see more and more of her, as she helps me to create consistent posts, develop new projects, and build a better experience for all of you.
You’ll notice the writing behind each post will continue to come from me — but together, Katie + I will work toward cultivating a fun, inspiring + honest space for you to indulge in.
For those of you who have followed the Lyst from the start — you know how much this little space has evolved. That’s not without great people working alongside me + behind-the-scenes.
Surround yourself with doers and dreamers, and you will soar.
Katie playfully answered some questions below…
Where are you from? I am a Cali girl! I grew up in Brentwood, CA and moved back after college. I went to school at George Washington University in DC, but I wasn’t built to withstand weather under 60 degrees so I had to move back.
Why did you join Lauren’s Lyst? I had been looking for a position that was both creative and consistent — my job at Lauren’s Lyst is both and SO much more. I interned at Mindy Weiss Party Consultants with Lauren’s sister, Alexa, and she showed me this site at one point. When I was job-hunting, I emailed Lauren asking if she was looking to expand her team — luckily, she was!
What was your dream job as a kid? I thought I’d follow in my mom’s footsteps! She’s a sitcom director and I spent 9 years of my life on the set of How I Met Your Mother, so it seemed natural to consider. I also wanted to be an FBI agent because I watch too much Law and Order.
Where’s your favorite place in LA? Duff’s Cake Mix! Put this place on your bucket lyst. You’ll impress all your friends with a beautifully-decorated cake that also tastes DELICIOUS.
Favorite quote? “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” – e.e. cummings
Give me two truths + a lie. ***
- I have an identical twin sister.
- I was on a jury for a murder trial while in college.
- I have never eaten a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.
- Lie! I am, indeed, a twin — but we’re fraternal.
- Truth! It was terrifying and awesome.
- Truth! I actually think chocolate is disgusting… sorry 😉
