How to Entertain Last-Minute
There are days I really feel like a grown up… [and today is one of them]. That’s because I’ve finally mastered how to make a Martha-esque snack spread without the help of a catering company.
You can do it, too. Here’s how to entertain like a pro, in the midst of your insanely busy life.
Cheese Plate. Everyone I know [with the exception of my very LA dairy-free friends] love a stellar cheese plate. It looks super fancy, yet requires zero cooking skills. Make a habit of keeping a variety of cheeses on-hand for unexpected guests. Incorporate different textures + flavors, like brie, mozzarella, aged cheddar and gouda. Add color to the platter with grapes, berry bowls and flavorful spreads (honey, jams, etc.). Serve alongside a handful of cracker options, from breadsticks to baguette crisps.
Chilled Wine. Let’s be real. Friends become better friends over a little vino. Fill a bucket about 3/4 of the way full with ice and water, giving your wine about 15 minutes to chill.
Fresh Flowers. If you’ve got time for a quick market run, grab some fresh flowers. They’ll brighten your home and make your space feel inviting. Toss a few stems in a vase, or lie them alongside your food spread. Scented candles are another simple way to make your guests feel restful and relaxed.
