Life as a Wife: Celebrate After the Wedding
I adore love. The romance, the sweetness, the innocence of it all. Love makes us vulnerable yet confident. Comfortable yet challenged. Speechless yet expressive. Love makes us all things.
I’ve spent the last several days hosting the BRIDES Live Wedding® series— a competition to star in a million dollar wedding. As a newlywed myself, I feel especially connected to the couples. Wedding planning is exciting, emotional and unexpectedly overwhelming. Nothing in the world can prepare a couple for such an outpour of joy.
Perhaps what I love most about a wedding is the attention it gives to love, commitment and happiness— values that should continue to be celebrated even after the big day is over. Maybe you won’t always have a cake and a live band on hand. But you can continue celebrating through love notes, surprise dates, karaoke nights and staycations.
Such celebrations remind us to reflect, to reminisce and to rejuvenate. All relationships deserve that kind of attention, especially when up against the stress of everyday life.

Remember, plans and priorities often change. There will be points when your career, your family or your health require more of your attention. That’s okay. Through those transitions, however, continue carving out time to celebrate your relationship. Even if it’s in oversized sweatpants with a bottle of wine. Or a martini. Martinis are always acceptable.
You can begin viewing the BRIDES Live: Million Dollar Wedding™ web series April 9th, when voting also kicks off. ∗
