Style the Bump: Best Maternity Jeans

Thank heavens for PREGNANCY JEANS! I’m not sure I waited so long to purchase them. For the first 4-5 months of pregnancy, I would squeeeeeze my growing tummy (and bum!) into my old jeans. I’d leave the button undone and basically suffer all day.

I expected maternity jeans to be dated. Instead, my favorite designers offer super stylish options!  Paige, J. Brand, Citizens of Humanity… and more have incredible choices.

Tips: purchase maternity denim in your normal size. Maternity clothes typically give you extra space everywhere, knowing your body is growing | Most brands offer two styles: side panels or underbelly wraps. The side panels are great for the first several months. After 7-8 months, go for full underbelly support. A Pea in the Pod offers both styles.

    My name is Kristel. I have a question/series of questions regarding the the side panel jeans. I just purchased a pair of Madewell maternity jeans, which does have the side panels. The other jeans I got have full panels. I purchased them in my size, and they fit perfectly in the legs, but they feel pretty tight around the waist/belly despite the panels. The panels are far from maxing out their stretch, but the waist still feels a bit snug and give me a slight muffin top. When I sit down, my belly (I’m almost 5 months pregnant) goes over the jeans’ waistline, making me wonder if it’s a sign that they’re too small? The problem is, if I get a size up, the legs just wouldn’t fit (skinny jeans that aren’t tight are yuck!), and it may even get a bit too loose around the waist (at least for now).

    Any recommendations based on what you experienced with your pairs? Should I stick with the 25 and hope that they’ll stretch with my belly (at least until the 7th or 8th month)? Or should I go to the 26 and hope that “I stretch” (lol) enough to fill in the legs? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks so much.
