Last-Minute Gifts for your Valentine

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Instead of sprinting to the store for a dozen overpriced roses, consider these last-minute ideas that put a meaningful spin on an otherwise-traditional gift.
These are available in-stores (or, in your hearts) everywhere. They’re more about the sentiment than the price tag. Let’s start with the ladies…
DIY Flower Bouquet: Head over to your local supermarket to pick up a handful of stems. Try pairing red tulips (which mean true love), with light pink roses (which mean gentleness and admiration). Fill the bouquet in with greens (I also added mums), and tie it with ribbon.
Bubble Bath + Candle: Cliche? A little. But most girls don’t mind cliches on Valentine’s Day, and we certainly don’t mind an excuse to spoil ourselves. I love Voluspa candles and this Lollia bubble bath.
Love Books: Make a quick trip to the bookstore, where you’ll find a number of meaningful books on display right now. I adore the “What I Love About You” book, because you can write in personalized notes. Click here to browse more ideas.
Now, for the Guys…
Shaving Set: Guys don’t often like to splurge on anything “beauty” related, but they [secretly] appreciate it. I love this starter kit from The Art of Shaving ($25), and this option from Target ($49).
BBQ Sauces + Rubs: Do you know a guy who doesn’t love barbecue? Nope. Scour your local food stores for special sauces and steakhouse rubs. A favorite of mine is this craft beer BBQ sauce.
Beer Bouquet: Let’s be real: my hubs will appreciate beer far more than the shoes I bought him last year. Pick up your man’s favorite brew, and attach a note reading, “Beer Mine.” Cue the, “awwwws.”
Happy Valentine’s Day! Sending you all a bear hug.
