Strollers + Stilettos | NY Fashion Week Mama Style
Happy Monday! I’m back home in Cali-land this morning and reflecting back on my trip to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week. This was little Evan Grey’s first trip to NYC and he made the whole experience so much HAPPIER. Perhaps the irony of it all is still sinking in — but prior to having my boy, NYFW felt a lot more rushed and stressful. I was attempting to make every show and event and lunch meeting, and I put a lot of unnecessary pressure on myself to be everywhere during Fashion Week.
This time last year, little Evan was growing in my belly, and I thought to myself… “How will I ever do this with a baby?” But the irony of parenthood is that while you have A LOT more to do, somehow the world slows down a little and everything feels less urgent. If my baby is good, I’m good. I was far more efficient with my time this trip, and prioritized the shows and work events that were truly important to me. My own mama bear traveled with me for Fashion Week, to help take care of my boy when I was away.
NYFW with my son was so different, so fun, so happily imperfect. I nursed him while getting ready every morning, snuck in trips to Central Park between shows, and brought him to his very first board meeting. I also found spit-up in my hair at the Carolina Herrera show and felt total mom guilt when I missed his bedtime routine two nights in a row. But all in all, our first trip to the New York was pure JOY and little Evan continues to prove life is so much better when it’s unplanned and imperfect.
Here’s a look at my NYFW diary, mama style… (more photos coming, so keep checking back for outfit details!)
