Feel Natural: Applying Dewy Makeup
Happy Friday! Lets celebrate with a little makeup party, okay?!
I’ve long been a lover of natural, dewy makeup. It feels light, airy and approachable, and is one of the few looks that works from day-to-night. The key is to strategically apply sheen, so your face reflects more light. Don’t be afraid of mixing both matte and cream-based products to achieve the look.
Beyond the products, I’ve found my skin is best when I make myself a priority — eating the right foods, getting sleep, washing my face + regularly using hydrating face masks [see my DIY options here].
Of course, life happens and we all veer from our good habits at times. Thankfully, I’ve got a few makeup tricks! Let your natural beauty shine through, while using these ideas to highlight your best features…
My go-to products for dewy makeup: Foundation: Cleau de Peau Beaute (affordable option here) | Makeup Sponge: Beauty Blender | Bronzer: Gorgeous Cosmetics | Cream Blush: Gorgeous Cosmetics | Under Eye Illuminator: Smashbox | Lip Gloss: Gorgeous Cosmetics | Balm: Rosebud
Trick 1 | Blend foundation + face lotion on the top of your hand, so it’s ultra-moisturizing. Apply using a sponge, focusing on your under eyes and t-zone area. Use concealer over breakouts or dark circles.
Trick 2 | Apply a subtle bronzer to your cheekbones to give your skin more color and definition. A little goes a long ways! Keep the bronzer matte and shimmer-free.
Trick 3 | Use a cream blush! For me, this makes a huge difference in making my skin just dewy enough without feeling shiny. Using a cream-based blush looks more natural and will give you a glow. Apply to your cheekbones and lightly on your upper eyelids.
Tricks 4 and 5 | Strategically apply an illuminator to a few different areas of your skin — under-eye, cheekbones, bridge of your nose + just under the arch of your brows. Avoid applying it elsewhere so your skin doesn’t appear greasy. Finish off your eye makeup with a few simple strokes of mascara.
Trick 6 | Finish off your look with a nude lip — either matte or a light gloss. I love a little lip shine, so I also apply a balm over top. However, a matte lip looks just as dewy when paired with the other steps!
